Cliffhanger: Ship departs, having not completed its mission, but determined to return to the planet ... if antimatter has not destroyed it by then... Solution: You are comfortable here, but homesick. The aliens teach you telepathy and explain their ways Captain votes to leave, with less than 20% chance of survival, offers you to stay as ambassador for some degree of mission success. Conclusion Decision: Stay, 113 / Leave, 114 Enter to find a tropical landscape and creatures with round bodies on four flexible legs. Linear Path > 105 Cliffhanger: Decide to leave; can only return when science discovers a shield against antimatter storms. Aliens understand and open their dome to let you in, but warn that if antimatter continues, you may not be able to leave. Decision: Enter, 99 / Do not, 100 Death: Laser results in the explosion of the ship - "Moments later, all that remains of the Aloha is a puff of smoke rising from the ocean." Captain decides to penetrate the dome with a laser. Dr. Vivaldi recommends sending message of peace first. Decision: Advise drilling, 93 / Advise sending message, 94 Solution: You find humanoids in hibernation chambers in the spherical pod. You must return to earth, but have proven the existence of alien life Ship comes near a spherical object, apparently created by intelligent beings. You go on a "space walk" with the captain. Linear Path > 110 Cliffhanger: Unknown force overtakes ship, reality becomes blurred with dream and you seem to merge with another universe... You land in the water and launch the underwater robot, which reveals a nearby dome, perhaps the roof of a city. Decision: Surface while you have a chance, 80 / Investigate the dome, 82 Ship is descending to the planet, computer recommends landing in the ocean. Decision: Land in ocean, 77 / Land on land, 78 Cliffhanger: Wait one month, reunite with the crew who now have made the third planet their home... Death: Affected by gravity of moon on approach, run out of fuel, crash on planet: "SPLASH!" *Note: Adjacent Results pages Arrive with neutron drive broken, just enough fuel to barely make it, but debating waiting until the planet is closer to attempt. Conclusion Dilemma: Proceed, 106 / Wait one month, 107 Death: The stars and galaxies contract toward you, and you are "present at the end of our universe" Cliffhanger: The spacetime journey kills Pickens, leaving you alone, crashlanded on an Earth-like planet that has not yet evolved higher life forms. Aliens drag your ship through time into the far future, where the universe has begun to contract. Activating the chronistan has a 15% chance of success or annihilation. Conclusion Dilemma: Return from future with chronistan, 108 / Find another way, 111 Discover the aliens are afraid of the chronistan, but using it has a 33% chance of destroying the ship. Decision: Use it, 70 / Do not, 72 Solution: Aliens free you and vanish. The crew is astonished and the crew decides they were from one of an infinite number of universes. Cliffhanger: Encounter "thin, wiry" aliens who tell you, "'Welcome. I am sure you will enjoy your new world... if you just obey order.'" Alien takes over computer, speaks through it, demanding you follow its orders, the first of which is to stay silent. Decision: Obey, 97 / Object, 98 / Persuade that you come in friendship, 102 Cliffhanger: Fall unconscious, awaken far away with ship crippled to sublight speeds, facing a journey of two years. "Whether the captain and Dr. Vivaldi can survive until you arrive--if you arrive--only time will tell." Ship locked into orbit by unknown force -- only chance of escape is activating risky "time-override acceleration device". Decision: Activate TOA, 91 / Do not, 92 *Note: Adjacent Results pages Death: Planets begin to disappear around you. Pickens "looks up, intending to ask you to help, but you are no longer there." *Note: Adjacent Results pages Leave to save ship. Notice that the sixth planet is unaffected by antimatter. Decision: Wait for now, 74 / Investigate, 75. *Note: Begin "Conclusion Branch" Dr. Vivaldi and the captain go. Antimatter storm interferes with communications to ship, computer warns you to leave. Decision: Follow warnings and leave, 54 / Stay in orbit and wait, 58 At the last minute, Dr. Vivaldi joins you to explore the planet, mimicking the conditions of Pg. 15. Cross-Branch Juncture > 101 Antimatter storm approaching; ship must leave but someone has to explore in the smaller ship. Decision: Volunteer, 35 / Do not, 36 Solution: Crew forced to leave, but take the memory banks with them to learn more -- Mission incomplete, but much has been learned Find a computer that begins talking to you in the electronic equipment room. You begin to talk to it. Linear Conclusion Path > 79 Solution: Crew is excited with your findings, learn that the inhabitants left this world to find a new home -- perhaps they're headed to Earth Find a building with electronic equipment, and a dome with maps and charts of the galaxy. Decision: Continue to explore, 28 / Radio the ship about your discovery, 32. *Note: This marks the "Solution Branch" Discover that clouds were designed symmetrically, see the city is deserted. Decision: Voluneer to explore the surface, 17 / Do not, 19 Death: Captain fires a missile, but ship is traveling at "time-override acceleration. "In a moment, the ship overtakes its own neutroid. The ship explodes silently as it enters the great blue light." Death: Missile approaches from system, advance detonation device goes off. Blast incoming -- "You look at Pickens. He shakes his head. He knows your question, and you know his answer. There is no hope." Cliffhanger: Stuck in this far future; must find a new planet now that both Altair and Earth are no more. Identify Altair nearby, but destroyed by current antimatter state. Decision: Enter Altair system, 62 / Do not, 69 Solution: Encounter strange creatures who own the ship, identify themselves as inhabitants of third planet from Altair. Their destination is Earth, of unknown time. Activate chronistan, awaken on a foreign ship, apparently thousands of years different. Linear Path > 57 Time warp disruption, must activate the "chronistan" - 32% chance to return to own time. Decision: Activate, 55 / Remain here, 60. Conclusion Branch.
